Buying health care online

Store brands and name brands often contain the same active ingredient at the same strength. The Drug Facts panel in the listing photos lists both, so compare active ingredient, strength and count before comparing price. Then divide by the number of tablets or caplets to get a per-dose price.

Medicines carry expiration dates. A large bottle at a low per-dose price is only a saving if you will use it before it expires. First aid supplies such as bandages keep longer and are a reasonable stock-up when the price drops.

Package counts are the main source of confusion in this aisle. A bottle may say 200 caplets, while a two-pack of 100 might be cheaper or more expensive per caplet depending on the day. We show a per-count price when the Amazon title states the count, and you can confirm it against the Drug Facts label in the listing photos before checkout.

How to compare

Compare per dose (tablet or caplet count) and check the active ingredient and strength. The price per ounce calculator handles multipacks and unit conversions.

Quick answers

Is a store brand the same as the name brand?

Often the active ingredient and strength are identical; the Drug Facts label tells you. Inactive ingredients and form can differ.

Do you recommend specific medicines?

No. We check Amazon price history and publish verified drops. Ask a doctor or pharmacist about what is right for you.
